Give me an exposed brick wall and tin ceilings any day. Add in the beautiful wood, marble bar and amazing light fixture created by Warren Muller and you have show-stealer. Simple {french} food done well, great concept, beautiful graphics, and a great interior design? I have no worries that this place will succeed. Chef and owner, Jody Williams opened the doors today, so get over there and check it out!

Brasserie Harkema

Name: Brasserie Harkema
Location: Amsterdam
Love it or hate it: The balance between bright, bold colors and clean, straight-forward design has me wishing I had a ticket across the pond. Keeping the menu and design true to the idea of simple and quality without pretense is truly what makes this place a gem. The building it sits in was once an old tobacco factory, too!

The Liberty Hotel & Clink

Name: The Liberty Hotel & Clink
Location: Boston, MA
What I Love: This beautiful building used to be a prison, built in 1851 by Boston architect Gridley James Fox Bryant. I love that they kept the original character of both the building and prison. The scale of the space is breath taking and you the history permeates throughout the entire space. Clink features photos of notable criminals who stayed here and showcases the old bars of the cells. I definitely recommend grabbing walking around the space a bit, grabbing a drink at clink and mingling outside on the terrace on the next summer night you find yourself in Boston.

The Slanted Door

Name: The Slanted Door
Location: San Francisco, CA
Designer: Olle Lundberg
What I Love: I typically like the architecture and designs created by Lundberg. I enjoy the blend of natural elements mixed with the sleek modern design and I love the view from the large windows out onto the bay that was once my back yard.
The only downfall of the design for me is the light wood and the overall feeling of being too open, at moments it boarders on being stark. Thankfully the food, location, and history of the building make up for any short-coming of design.

What I love: The striking lines, clean and modern interior and the stunning angles that the designers created in both restaurants. I also enjoy the contrast between the two restaurants (both in design and in menu and atmosphere.)

What I love: I love the concept of a 'bazaar' or market brought together with the contrast of the modern and clean-lined furniture. The organized chaos of products and dinnerware is completely balanced by the simple dining space and muted tones.

The Village Tart

Name: The Village Tart
Location: New York, NY
Designer: Lesly Bernard
What I Love: The space has the classic parisian cafe feel with Thonet-esq chairs, classic mosaic tiled floor, and dark wood. I also love the mirror collage wall and beautifully detailed ceiling. The menu looks fantastic and seems to add to the casual cafe vibe the space is churning out.

The Fat Radish

Name: The Fat Radish
What I love: The restaurant is located in a former sausage factory in chinatown and still boasts many of the original details. Exposed brick walls and floors, clean white subway tiles, wood and reclaimed pieces come together to create a beautiful backdrop to the seasonal dishes being put out by british chefs Ben Towill, Phil Winser, Raymond Blanc and Rick Stein. Soho House; New York

Name: Soho House
Location: New York, meatpacking district
Designer: Ilse Crawford of Studioilse
What I love: Is it inappropriate for me to say 'everything'? This hotel and restaurant first came onto my radar three years ago while researching custom fabrication for a current project/client. I fell in love with the green-high-gloss-community-table and every image since has simply increased this lust. The space has a great balance between raw and refined with a mix of designer, custom, and found pieces splashed about for good measure. I can't wait to sit on the 39ft chesterfield sofa and take a dip in the stunning rooftop pool. Now to become a member so I can make all of my design dreams come true.

10 Arts Bistro & Lounge

Name: 10 Arts Bistro & Lounge
Location: Philadelphia, PA.
What I Love: The fact that I was able to work on this project as an intern helps a bit but I also love how seamlessly the modern design works with its historic home. Add the bright colors and great food by Eric Ripert (and head chef Jennifer Carroll) and you have a sure-fire win in my book.
