Local Favorite: Bow Truss

Name: Bow Truss
Location: Chicago, IL

With NeoCon just around the corner, I wanted to give all those headed into town a look at one of my favorite coffee shops near the Mart.

Bow Truss is a local, small batch roaster with two locations in Chicago. While both serve amazing coffee, their newest location in River North is the stand out in terms of design.

A smaller space than their original, the River North location still maintains the rustic, reclaimed, and hip nature the original East Lakeview location is known for but does it a more thoughtful and concentrated manor.

Designed as an alternating, 'pop-up' style restaurant located on the top of the Le Palais de Tokyo museum is a stunning gem. With full views of the Eiffle Tower and seating for 12-14, the space is intimate and relaxed with the majority of the surfaces designed to draw your eye out, rather than in.

Dogmatic

Name: Dogmatic
Location: New York, NY
Design: EFGH

Dogmatic is a sight to be seen. What started as a simple hot dog cart, now has a brick and mortar home to call it's own. The truly impressive part of Dogmatic is what lies just inside of the sleek, industrial exterior. A simple interior with nothing more than a communal table and bench seating at first glance opens itself up (almost literally!) to accommodate diners. the butcher block communal table that runs through the center features individual wood seats that can be slid out from under the table and pushed back in when not in use to truly maximize the small size of the space. Even the waste basket is blended into the wall. All of these space saving solutions allow the space itself to feel sleek, modern, and clean and allow efficiency to be the center of attention.

Mile End Sandwich & Delicatessen

Name: Mile End Sandwich & Delicatessen
Location: New York

Mile End started out as a local Jewish Deli but has recently added on a sandwich shop crafted with quality design. Playing on the materials already used in the original deli; white tile, blonde wood, and a minimal color palate, the Sandwich Shop incorporates and reimagines them. Giving the spaces a similar and harmonious feel while maintaining separate identities for each. The geometric bling wood table running through the center of the Sandwich shop creates visual interest and traffic flow, while also maximizing seating. Let's take a look;

First, the Sandwich Shop.

And, the Delicatessen.
